As I haul myself from my rut...

Acursed A-levels. Securing my future when I could be commenting on fanart and talking on msn. Bah!

Anyway, exams are finished for a year. At last. Gives me more time to spend on the important things in life; or bugger all as it's also known. I've got a few photos lined up to upload once I've cleared my immensely full inbox and burnt several tons of useless worksheets. Roll on summer.

Over the next few weeks I'll be changing most of my pictures to higher-resolution versions, exactly what made me resize them that small is beyond me. Always save your originals, kids.

New York! New York!

  • Mood: Compassion
So good our ICT department decided to do a trip there...

I'm off to New York for 5 days on wednesday, generally because we can. There's some seminar thing, but mostly it's just a few days of mucking about in the USA. I'll be buying a new camera, and taking advantage of the exchange rate in several other ways. I just hope the plane journey isnt as bad as my ferry to Norway...

And I'm back! Didn't realise I hadn't updated.

In short - New York = Awesome. The flight was nice and boring, but it's a marvelous place to visit. Officially we went to attend an IT seminar, apparently that's all lies to get it approved b senior staff. :P Anyone who's going in future, get up early and take a walk before it gets busy. Walking around in the early morning on a nice day, with the city waking up around you, it's a great feeling. In the day it's so busy, every second person is trying to either sell you something, get you to donate to something or convert you to something. Top of the empire State building is incredible, you can see for miles, and ground zero is a very sobering place to visit. Definitely do it again.

I've got lads of stuff to upload too, there's some decent NY panoramas I spent ages stitching and a couple of decent shots I managed to sneak in too. Loving the new camera, it's a more SLR-like model and a bit of a step up, but it sure does take nice pictures. Shame it's such rubbsih weather over here.

Quiz! Figs! Huzzah!

Well we're as good as moved now, so here's a little quiz thing. Hi ho, bandwagon, away!

1) What is your deviant-name and what does it mean?

Preasure. It's a deliberate typo of 'pressure', partly to be original and partly because I couldn't spell when I first used it. It stems from pressure points, sensitive areas

of the body I used rather a lot for fighting when I was a kid.

2) Why did you join this site?

Because I needed somewhere to link images from instead of attaching them on forums. It all just went from there.

3) What fandom were you obsessed with when you joined?

Worms, I didn't do anything other than that until I realised that I wasn't that good ai it, and there were other areas I could do better in and enjoy more.

4) Were any of the fandoms you have currently brought about by this site?

Nope. But it certainly helped fuel my love of sunsets.

5) Look into your stats. What is your:
- most Favorited Deviation: Sun and the Oak Tree [link]
- most Viewed Deviation: Sunset Over Bergen [link]
- most Commented Deviation: An old one called Worms Comic, for some reason.

6) How many watchers do you have at this moment?

21

7) First ever watcher?

~truec1p8 - October 9, 2004

8) How many pageviews do you have at this moment?

1,294

9) What is your artist's title shown beneath your "status"?

Master of the Toasting Fork

10) What is your most "meaningful" work?

First [link] Watching a new life come into the world is very symbolic and powerful

11) Best COMPLETED piece you ever did?

I'm proud of pretty much all of them, some I like for the good photography, others for good photoshopping. I really can't choose.

12) Work that took the longest?

Simple Elegance [link] took a good long time to edit

13) DA artist who has influenced you the most?

Anyone who's ever had a sunset picture I've seen :p

14) What is currently the funnest thing to draw?

If I was drawing, probably owls. RANDOM

15) Your first ever giftart was to:

Never.

First ever giftart received was from:

~Superblob did a picture of me for something once, I think

16) How many clubs are you in?

2. *sunsets and ~NatureClub

17) How long have you been here?

Since Sep 6, 2004, 11:38 AM. Blimey.

18) Are you on any other art sites?

Nope.

19) Can you remember the old DA layout?

Yup. Vuagely.

20) Are you still as passionate about art/poetry/prose as when you joined this site?

Probably not. I'm less likely to sit down and do something, it's more of a quick spur of the moment thing these days. But a good completed piece still makes me feel the same.

Moving, at last

Well, it's been 15 months since it was going to be done in 9, but the move is finally happening. So I'm spending my half term week shifting all the clutter from a small nasty house to a large nice house. This means I'll be carrying everything in my room, from the wardrobe to the random collection of bric-a-brack on my shelf, out and over to the new house next door. Computers go last, so I'm off for a week of stress with no broadband to soothe me. I'll probably take a few more pictures when we're in, let you all see what it's like. See you in a week, or more if it takes that long.

GCSE Results, A milestone of sorts, and filler

Thu Aug 24, 2006, 3:48 AM
Science A* A* (Double)
English A
English Lit B
German C
Resistant Materials (D+T) B
Maths A
ICT A
Religion A
Business Studies A

Quite pleased, did better than I though in RE and english and I'm glad I managed a pass in german, but I'm a little disapointed about tech, after all the hard work I put into my practical piece and the fact that I was the only person in my group who actually revised. Would have liked an A* in business, too.

Cut 1,000 pageviews a while ago too, which is nice, and my camera took it's 1000th picture a week or so ago. It's a picture of my room in the new house, see it at [link] . Speaking of the house, it's all down to interior work now. We hope to be in by the end of next month. Moving and A-levels, all in one lovely, happy, stressful package.
